  11. The iPort Control is a simple control panel for enabling and controlling 
  12. the iPort video and serial adapter for iMacs. The iPort Scanner is an
  13. extension for registering localtalk and for setting Appletalk to the users 
  14. last saved preference on the iPort.

  16. The iPort Control must be placed in the Control Panel folder in your
  17. System Folder in order to operate properly. The iPort Scanner should 
  18. be placed in the extensions folder of your System Folder.  The  easiest
  19. way to do this is to drag both on top of your System Folder. You will see
  20. a dialog box "Some of these items need to be put in special folders within
  21. the Sytem Folder" Click OK and they will be placed in the correct place.
  22. After installation you must restart your iMac for the sofware to take 
  23. effect. Make sure you remove any older versions of the iPort software.

  25. The iPort control software enables the serial port of the iPort. It 
  26. provides support for printing and file sharing over Localtalk. It also 
  27. allows the selection between the iPort and infrared port. You cannot 
  28. use both at one time. It also shows whether an external monitor is 
  29. connected.

  31. What's New
  32. The iPort Scanner has replaced the Appletalk Enabler. The iPort Scanner
  33. enables or disables Appletalk over the iPort based on how the user last set 
  34. AppleTalk in the chooser or Control Strip.  There were also some small 
  35. changes to the iPort Control. This version has no known incompatibilities.

  37. System Requirements
  38. In order to use iPort control you need an iMac with a Griffin Technology
  39. iPort video and serial card installed. The iPort Control must be placed
  40. in the control panels folder of the System folder. The easiest way to do
  41. this is by dragging the control panel on top of your System Folder. The 
  42. AppleTalk Enabler should be placed in the startup items of your System
  43. Folder.
